Ellen Lapper
Ellen Lapper is a British-born visual anthropologist, artist and researcher exploring different mediums to expand on traditional text-based research. Ellen largely engages in participatory projects and is currently pursuing two research topics: widening the discussion on colonised peoples by challenging homogenised and racialised ideologies of British identity; and navigating the digital afterlife, published under How has social media changed the way we grieve? (transcript: 2017). Her films have been shown in various locations, with her work on post-colonialism most recently contributing to the 2019 RAI Film Festival, Forecast Forum Berlin 2019 and Athens Ethnographic Film Festival 2020. Ellen has been collaborating with Apian for the past few years after completing an MA in Visual & Media Anthropology from the Freie Universität Berlin (2017). She also works as a writer and translator from German to English in the fields of contemporary art and anthropology.
